A short two block walk from the main square and pedestrian mall - and at this altitude you'll appreciate short distances. The hotel also has an elevator (5 floors), so less stress and gasping for air going up and down (coca tea is available in the front entrance all the time and you can get oxygen if you need it). It is built around a central atrium, with a small restaurant located in the lower level. A small, but varied and good, buffet breakfast is served each morning. The restaurant is not always open at night, but there are many small restaurants located along the pedestrian mall (about 2 blocks long). You are only 3 blocks from the cathedral. Many, polite, street vendors in the area, along with many small boutique shops selling almost everything under the sun. Puno seems to have a celebration of one sort or another going on every day/night, so there's always a parade of sorts, a band playing, dancers and lots of colourful activity. The main marina for boat trips on Lake Titicaca is about 5 minutes by tuktuk (2 soles), or taxi (5 soles).
Stayed 2 nights at the Intiqa Hotel. I choose that hotel after viewing the good reviews here on TA. My familly and I were not disappointed with our choice. The hotel is located right downtown Puno, a block away from Lima street (pedestrian street) and about 5 minutes from la Plaza de Armas. The price to stay here was very reasonable + including a good breakfast buffet. The staff was kind and friendly. Free wifi. When we arrived mi-January, there was the beginning of the Celebrations of la Fiesta de la Candelaria. Traditional peruvian music bands and dancers performing on Lima street, amazing experience. If you come to Puno, you should come during this periode of the year. They also can organise tours via a company that comes to pick you up at the hotel for the Titicaca Lake / Taquile island and as well Sillustani, a pre-Incan archaeology site, worth the visit. I totally recommend to stay here.
I contacted the hotel through emails and my emails were promptly replied to. I stayed for 3 separate nights in 3 different rooms. Each one was clean, with working cable tv. One night I ate in the restaurant downstairs and the food was tasty. The other nights I walked about 5 minutes to the main area where there are places to eat. The breakfasts were wonderful with a large selection. People working in the hotel and restaurant gave nice, reliable service. There is an elevator.
My husband and I stayed 2 nigths on our 2 week trip in Peru and enjoyed. Good location. Comfortable and clean rooms and baths. TV and Wi-Fi. Good breakfast buffet, hot and cold choices. Friendly staff. Met at the bus station on our arrival and arranged our lake tour and Sillustrani tour and transportations... Recomended
Stayed here for one night. Comfortable room and convenient location. Receptionist is friendly. The selection in breakfast is not bad. Don't think you need to stay long in Puno, but I would recommend this place if you are not looking for anything luxurious.
The staff we encountered was extremely friendly, were eager to help us take the stress out of the little details of traveling, and kept coca tea in the lobby 24/7 :) This was the start of our 2 week trip to Peru, and was by far the best continental breakfast we had during our travels.
Todo perfecto, sobre todo la atención personal de sus empleadosFuente: Booking.com
Bien situado, buena atención, habitaciones impecables y buen desayuno. ....totalmente recomendable!!! El personal es muy amable, te ayuda con todo lo que necesites. Si volviera a Puno, fijo que repito el hotel.
We stayed at Intiqa 4 nights and ww loved our stay. Everything was perfect. Rooms are big and clean, beds are very comfortable and breakfast was delicious. They offer a great variety of hot and cold options including Peruvian cereals and pancakes made with quinua. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It was the best hotel we stayed in in our trip to south America.
Intiqa was there best hotel we started in in our trip to south America. Everything was perfect. Rooms are big, clean and well decorated, beds are very comfortable. Breakfast was probably the best part, they offer a very nice selection of Peruvian cereals that were delicious, plus a good variety of fruits, natural juices, fresh bread and local bread. Staff was also very friendly and helpful. Location was fantastic. Our stay at Intiqa was perfect, luckily we could stay there four nights.Fuente: Booking.com
