    Virgin of Candelaria

    Lugar: Puno

    Each year marks the largest festivity throughout Peru, in honor of the Virgin of Candelaria, patron of Puno. The festival held every day during the first two weeks of February. In this event more than 40,000 dancers and 9,000 musicians from around the department, brighten and adorn the streets of Puno.

    This unparalleled spectacle, is considered one of the three largest events held at South America, among them include the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and Carnival in Oruro Bolivia.
